Stepping Stones for a Hepatitis free world is an initiative to start the conversation about Hepatitis
elimination. Our vision is to give this chatter a platform to flourish and transform it into a health movement
in every neighborhood.
Hepatitis elimination by 2030 can only be reached if there is more awareness among the people. More initiatives are needed for longer periods to ensure we reach the target
HEPATITIS CAN ATTACK YOU ANY TIME. A SINGLE BLOOD TEST CAN TELL YOU IF YOU HAVE HEPATITIS VIRUS IN YOUR BODY. IF YOU DON'T HAVE HEPATITIS VIRUS IN YOUR BODY, DON'T WAIT GET VACCINATED. IF YOUR BODY CARRIES THE VIRUS START TREATMENT IMMEDIATELY. IT CAN BE MANAGED BY TREATMENT. HEPATITIS C REQUIRES NO VACCINE. IT CAN BE CURED BY TREATMENT ONLY.
In this content I tried to inform people how to be safe from hepatitis viruses. ----i) Be vaccinated against hepatitis B.ii) If you have virus in your body, consult with doctor.iii) Don't share a syringe with others.iv) Avoid contaminated food as much you can.
If Liver Cries, he will make us cry . So our first priority is to take care of liver & make Hepatitis Free World. Save liver from hepatitis & stay healthy
This poster is made to inform people about the importance of testing and getting vaccinated for Hepatitis B.There are almost 300 million people infected by Hepatitis. If we become aware of Hepatitis, it would be easy to make Hepatitis-free world.
This poster is made to inform people about the causes of Hepatitis. Things which invite Hepatitis are ----- (i) Drinking alcohol regularly, (ii) Eating junk and unhealthy foods and drinks, (iii) Taking extra medicine with high doses, (iv) Viruses ( hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C ) (v) Using the syringes and needles which are contaminated with infected blood or any body fluid. It should be maintained that every single syringe and needle is used only once. Besides these if any mother is effected with hepatitis during pregnancy, there is a chance for the baby to be affected with it.
Here are some things we should do and absolutely not do to keep our liver healthy.(আমাদেরকে লিভার সুস্থ রাখতে হলে আমাদার যা যা করা উচিত এবং যা যা এক্কেবারে করা উচিত নই ।)
Hepatitis B is a vaccine -preventable liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) that can lead to chronic infection causing cirrhosis, liver cancer and death
Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus. Hepatitis A can be prevented with a vaccine. People who get hepatitis A may feel sick for a few weeks to several months but usually recover completely and do not have lasting liver damage.

A liver transplant is surgery to replace a diseased liver with a healthy liver from another person. A whole liver may be transplanted, or just part of one.In most cases the healthy liver will come from an organ donor who has just died.Sometimes a healthy living person will donate part of their liver. A living donor may be a family member. Or it may be someone who is not related to you but whose blood type is a good match.People who donate part of their liver can have healthy lives with the liver that is left. The liver is the only organ in the body that can replace lost or injured tissue (regenerate). The donor’s liver will soon grow back to normal size after surgery. The part that you receive as a new liver will also grow to normal size in a few weeks.
Kudos to all the students from each state for actively taking part and completing the modules; now its time to spread awareness in the community levels. Hope together we all can take a step towards a 'Hepatitis' Free world.

The liver is a vital organ that plays a key role in metabolism and detoxification. It is responsible for breaking down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, and for producing bile, which helps to digest these nutrients. The liver also detoxifies the blood, removing harmful toxins and chemicals. This vital organ is essential for good health, and its proper function is essential for maintaining a healthy balance in the body. There are many different types of skin conditions, and not all of them are caused by liver disease. Some common skin conditions that are not caused by liver disease include acne, eczema, and psoriasis. While these conditions can be uncomfortable and sometimes even painful, they are not indicative of a more serious underlying condition. If you are concerned about a skin condition that you have, it is best to consult with a dermatologist or other medical professional to get a proper diagnosis.By Pranjal Dutta

The liver has a unique capacity among organs to regenerate itself after damage. A liver can regrow to a normal size even after up to 90% of it has been removed. But the liver isn't invincible. Many diseases and exposures can harm it beyond the point of repair.

I am Karma Bhutia, a recovering addict and an alcoholic currently undergoing treatment at Freedom Facility, ( Rehabilitation Centre) in Gangtok Sikkim. During my days of addiction, I didn't have much idea about Hepatitis C virus apart from what I had heard or seen in media and posters which had been put up on hospital walls. I had no idea that this virus spread through sharing of needles and through infected blood. As I had also shared needles during my addiction, I had a slight fear in the back of my mind regarding HIV and Hepatitis C infection. I am very grateful towards Stepping Stones, Liver Foundation and the Government of Sikkim who organised an awareness and blood screening camp in our rehab center under the leadership of the Nodal Officer from Singtam District Hospital, Dr.Deki Wangmu. I tested HCV postive and was shocked and worried to think that had I been in active addiction, the consequences would have been much worse. But with the help of the incharge of Freedom Facility, the Nodal Officer Dr. Deki Wangmu, Stepping Stones, Liver Foundation and the Government of Sikkim, I have got proper treatment and medications on time. It has been more than one month that I have been taking the medicines and I am feeling better. The Model Treatment Centre has been giving me valuable information and guidance regarding my illness. I have also been attending weekly online meetings and classes conducted by Stepping Stones regularly. These meetings have been a great moral support to me and are very informative for people like me. I meet people like me infected with Hepatitis C some of whom are cured and it gives me a lot of hope and courage that I'll be cured and be able to lead a normal and better life. These meetings have encouraged me to spread awareness about HCV amongst people and try to be of help to them.
I would like to convey through imaginary conversation with this small picture that we are on the side of hepatitis patients. We will help them. It is a normal drawing and nothing else. Tried with two characters how to console a hepatitis patient.
Here I have made a digital poster to show you how blood borne disease like Hepatitis C is spread, transmitted and treated. Hepatitis C is not much more serious than Hepatitis B. It can be easily prevent through treatment.I hope you all will be aware of this and will raise your hand in making the whole society and the whole world aware.
Here I have made a poster to show you how blood borne disease like Hepatitis B is spread, transmitted and prevented.I haven't written much about hepatitis D here because hepatitis B and D are like friends. If hepatitis B enters the body, hepatitis D will also enter. And if hepatitis B once leaves the body, then hepatitis D will also leave with it. This means that these two viruses go in and out together like friends.I hope you all will be aware of this and will raise your hand in making the whole society and the whole world aware. It is one of our duties to make the society, Bengal aware about Hepatitis B.

Your liver health may not be top of mind, but the minute it malfunctioned there wouldn’t be much else on your mind. Cirrhosis , in which liver cells are replaced with scar tissue, can prevent your liver from doing its critical jobs. So can nonalcoholic fatty liver disease , a fast-growing epidemic among the obese, which can lead to cirrhosis. “If your liver stopped working,” says Dr. Alqahtani, “toxins would accumulate, you couldn’t digest your food and medications would never leave your body.”In fact — you can’t live a week without your liver. So here’s a list of ways to avoid liver disease. Some of them are healthy behaviors you might do anyway. Others may never have occurred to you. Heed these tips to stay right with your liver.

Shaped like a cone, the liver is a dark reddish-brown organ that weighs about 3 pounds. There are 2 distinct sources that supply blood to the liver, including the following: Oxygenated blood flows in from the hepatic artery. Nutrient-rich blood flows in from the hepatic portal vein.
Fatty liver disease is the common condition caused by the storage of extra fat in the liver. Most of the people have no symptoms and it does not caused serious problem for them. But in some cases it can lead to liver damage also. The good news is you can often prevent or even reverse fatty liver disease with lifestyle changes.
The liver perform several crucial functions: it filter toxins from the blood, metabolizes drug, store energy, fight infection and help digestion. The football size organ is incredibly resilient with the ability to repair and regenerate itself in order to continue performing its necessary functions.

Testimony of Mr.Bikash Bista:I was tested HCV postive in May 2009. I used to be an IDU till the year 2000 and I had also undergone a minor surgery in 2005, so I am not sure how I got the virus. I started my treatment in June 2009 and it was very costly then.I had to take injection every week for six months alongwith other medicines. After six months I was declared cured, but I never went for follow up ie. got my viral load tested. In the meantime I started taking alcohol and ended up in a rehabilitation centre. Three days after my admission in the rehabilitation centre, we were visited by a medical team from Singtam District Hospital. The team us about HCV and the work being done by the Liver Foundation of India, Stepping Stones and Pharma Companies who are working together with the Government of Sikkim to spread awareness about HCV, the treatment and medicines being provided by them to the HCV patients. They also took our blood samples where two of us tested HCV positive. The Nodal Officer from Singtam District Hospital advised me to go for a viral load test as I had not done it for a very long time. Luckily my viral load was not detected and I did not have to take medicines. This experience has been a very big wake up call for me. It has made me realise that I had been challenging death by consuming alcohol.I would like to thank the centre incharge of the rehabilitation centre I am staying in at present, Stepping Stones, Liver Foundation of India and the Nodal Officer of Singtam District Hospital Dr. Deeki Wangmu for coming as a blessing in disguise and making me aware of the dangers that alcohol can cause to a HCV patient even if one has received treatment. After completing my stay in this rehabilitation centre I would like to continue my association with Stepping Stones and be of service in anyway I can.
Testimony of Mr.LEKLI DOKE:I am LEKLI DOKE from Arunachal Pradesh I have been using heroin intravenously for the past few years.. for that I have stayed in a rehabilitation centre but I relapsed and this time before coming to this centre in Sikkim I gotten myself detoxified and came to know that I was HCV postive then I told the centre incharge of the rehab center here in Sikkim where I am staying at present about my condition. So with the help of liver foundation of India and Stepping Stones who are working in collaboration with the government of Sikkim, I got my viral load tested and am receiving medicines for the entire duration of my treatment. Now I am feeling better and fit so I would like to thank the centre and the nodal officer ma'am Dr DEKI WANGMU of Singtam District Hospital for giving me the moral and physical support that I needed and also want to thank GOD for bringing me here to this beautiful place SIKKIM for my treatment
